Riptide is protective and loyal towards those he loves, although simultaneously respectful of their independence. He is intelligent and observant, noticing that Tsunami looked sad instead of guilty during a misunderstanding in The Lost Heir and concluded that she probably was not lying to him. He dislikes his reputation as a lowly traitor because of his father, Webs's crimes, yet he still respects the royal family's authority and does not often argue with them. Even after being imprisoned by Queen Coral, he was determined to protect his home with his life. He once stated that he would never be able to boss anyone into doing what he wants, and he is a good actor. Riptide is strong, brave, sheepish, dignified, wry, and secretive. He is quite handsome, with a friendly-looking face. He has several scars, including an old bite mark on his tail, claw scars along his underbelly, and slashes across his snout. He is large, fully grown, and well-built, with sharp, hooked claws and a massive tail. He has a pale underbelly and dark blue eyes that are nearly black. Riptide has been mentioned several times to have dark blue horns and metallic sky-blue scales, that are several shades paler than Tsunami's.
